Uruguayan winger and World Cup hero Alcides Edgardo Ghiggia wore these cleats during the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Ghiggia scored the game-winning goal of the 1950 World Cup against a historically strong Brazil team, slotting the ball past Brazilian ‘keeper Moacir Barbosa in the 79th minute of the tournament final to give Uruguay a narrow 2-1 win and the Jules Rimet Trophy. Ghiggia was one of Uruguay’s main goal threats during the 1950 World Cup, with the future A.S. Roma player scoring against Bolivia in the group stages and in all three of la celeste’s knockout round games against Spain, Sweden, and Brazil. Ghiggia later played in Italy with Roma and A.C. Milan, earning five caps for Italy in addition to his 12 Uruguay appearances.

These offered cleats are dark brown, with three metal bars bearing cleats on the sole of each shoe. The laces remain with the shoes more than a half century after the cleats were used at the 1950 FIFA World Cup by Ghiggia. The cleats do not bear any manufacturer's mark and are in good condition and come with a LOA from 100% Authentic for the use. There is also a letter of provenance from Marcel Alejandro Pesce Arremon, who states that he received these cleats from Ghiggia.
