Hall of Famer Hank Aaron continued his historic march to Babe Ruth’s all-time home run record in 1972. During the August 6th game at Cincinnati, Aaron belted two home runs to inch ever so closer to the Babe. This offered baseball was hit by Aaron for his 661st career home run in the top of the 10th inning of the Braves’ 4-3 victory over the Reds, the second home run and winning home run of the game. This Official Charles S. Feeney stamped baseball is the very home run ball hit by Hank Aaron for his 661st career home run. This ball displays outstanding game use and has toned with age. There are flaking marks from the original dirt that came off. Handwritten in black marker on the sweet spot is “Ball Hit By Aaron For His 661st Career Home Run Cincinnati – August 6, 1972”. The names of the umpires are listed on the south panel and read “UMPIRES ED SUDOL MEL STEINER BILL WILLIAMS DICK STELLO”. There are two letters of provenance that accompany this historic baseball. The first provenance has been handwritten and signed by Frances Williams, the widow of umpire Billy Williams and a letter from Pat Quinn, who purchased this ball from Frances Williams.
