A tremendous framed set of signed pieces from the great Babe Ruth. The personal letter, typed on The Babe’s simple but elegant letterhead thanks a Mrs. Colson of Iola, Kansas for her kind letter and says how much it meant to him during his illness. In gratitude he enclosed a signed photo, which is also included and framed above the letter.
Written on April 7, 1947, shortly before Babe Ruth Day at Yankee Stadium, this particular letter is unique in that Ruth rarely mentioned the cancer that was quickly consuming him. Just over a year after writing these heart-felt words to Mrs. Colson, The Babe was gone forever. Both pieces have been attractively framed and matted and measures 18” wide by 28 1/2” tall. The signed letter has been graded a 9 and the signed postcard autograph also graded a 9 by PSA/DNA whose Letter of Authenticity is included.
