Perhaps no other ballplayer in the history of the game evokes the kind
of tragic sadness as the early death of Lou Gehrig at age 37. Bridging
two great Yankee dynasties, Gehrig was the silent leader of the era’s
greatest team. As he led by example on the field his whole career, the
Iron Horse exemplified the same dignity and grace as the disease that
would be named after him quickly took his life. This warmly aged piece
of paper has been signed by the Yankees first baseman “L Gehrig” in bold lead pencil. Historic Autographs has encapsulated this cut in a PSA/DNA holder as part of their 2010 “In Memory Of” Edition autographed card
series. The series consisted of cut autographs of players who passed away before their time - this Gehrig cut being the key piece from that set and 1 of only 2 made. PSA/DNA has graded this signature AUTHENTIC.
