A thin and frail but still smiling “Bambino”, is seen cigar-in-hand, conversing with three friends or associates near the end of his life, in this sepia-toned group portrait photo signed in black steel-tip fountain pen: “To Lee Jones, from Babe Ruth.” This two 8”X 10” framed photo display also includes photographer Nat Fein’s Pulitzer prize-winning image of a uniformed but retired Ruth leaning on a bat for support taken on June 13, 1948 on the 25th anniversary of Yankee Stadium which the Yankees also chose to retire the Babe’s number 3. A metal tag between the two gold-trim mounted photos in a 15” x 23” frame is etched with the words: “Babe Ruth Last Known Autograph” which may not be true but given the circumstances it is certainly one of his last; comes with JSA full LOA certification number B39864.
