Presented is a Willie Mosconi signed pool ball set and a billiard cue stick, with 17 total signatures from the legendary professional pool player. The Philadelphia-born Mosconi, who served as the technical advisor for the award-winning 1961 film “The Hustler” starring Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason, has signed his name in black marker on the center of the wooden handle of the two-piece billiard cue stick, which has a dark wood pattern on the handle. This item comes with a STICKER ONLY from JSA (FF85598). Mosconi has also signed 16 miniature billiard balls. He has signed the 1, 5, 9, and 13 balls in black marker, the 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 balls in white marker, and the 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 and cue balls in blue marker. Between the years of 1941 and 1957, Mosconi won the World Straight Pool Championship an unmatched 15 times. For most of the 20th century, his name was essentially synonymous with pool in North America – he was nicknamed "Mr. Pocket Billiards" – and he was among the first Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame inductees. Mosconi pioneered and regularly employed numerous trick shots, set many records, and helped to popularize pool as a national recreation activity. This entire lot has been pre-certified by Beckett Authentication.
