Steve Martini had a very well documented career cutting the hair of many different presidents from the early 1950’s through the 1970’s. He also made many Television and media appearances where he was called known as the “Ear of the President,” where he would inform the Presidents of different thing people were saying in the country while cutting their hair.
Presented in this lot are two extremely unique presidential related relics. Up for grabs are two different hair cutting aprons that have come directly from the family of long time White House Barber Steve Martini. One of the aprons, black, white and red in color appears to have been used during men’s cuts, while the other possesses a floral design on a baby blue/teal colored apron which would appear to have been used on the women. Both aprons are Nylon in material and show evidence of their age, dating back over a half century ago.
Also included in the lot are four original photographs of Steve Martini in his barber studio where he cut the President hair. Additionally, there are two newspaper articles regarding Martini’s relationships with the Presidents, which also talk about him cutting their hair. The aprons are accompanied by a letter of provenance by Steve Martini Jr, son of famed White House Barber Steve Martini.
