Over the course of his three decades as the Official White House barber, Steve Martini became especially close to Lyndon Baines Johnson. This collection consists of large commemorative coins, cufflinks, press pins, and other accessories that support LBJ. The first item is two large copper coins that reads, “Asian Pacific Visit October-November 1966” and was a personal memento from this visit given to only a select group of individuals. Also included are four commemorative inauguration day medals that date to November 22, 1963, the date John F. Kennedy was assassinated and only hours later Lyndon B Johnson was sworn into office. There are over 40 pieces in this collection with mostly all pertaining to LBJ and his residency or his campaigning. There is one LBJ pocketknife and one IKE button from Eisenhower’s campaign. The collection of items is accompanied by a letter of provenance from the son of long time White House Barber Steve Martini.
