From the mid-1950s through the 1970s Steve Martini was a fixture at the White House serving all of the presidents and their families their haircuts at the official White House barber. Over these decades he collected very personal mementos and items that have a significance in one way or another to himself. The offered items in this lot are the remainder of the Steve Martini Collection that Goldin auctions is proudly auctioning from lots 1761 to 1789.
This lot includes a multitude of items that were collected at the White House or have other connections with political or public events. Included in this offering are original photo negatives from a Papal visit, a Patricia Nixon signed White House sketch framed, several Ike pins and buttons from Eisenhower's presidential campaign, two “With Appreciation” Dwight Eisenhower engraved medals from South America 1960, several in inaugural ball invitations and inauguration ceremony programs, several funeral programs from Pope Francis come original photographs, a deck of Air Force One Richard Nixon playing cards with the presidential seal, John F Kennedy headshot prints, several magazines in relation to the death of John F Kennedy, they 1952 Topps look and see General Eisenhower card, a with best wishes framed card from Lady Bird Johnson with a facsimile signature and most unique of all a flight log that was flown above Air Force One and filled out by the pilot. The lot comes with a letter of provenance from Steve Martini Jr.
