Offered here is a Baltimore Colts road jersey worn by safety Rick Volk during the 1970-73 seasons. This size 44 Sand-Knit white jersey features Volk’s number “21” sewn on the front, back and sleeves in blue tackle twill. The shoulders have the Colts’ traditional two blue-stripe diagonal pattern and on the back shoulder is “VOLK”, which is sewn on in blue tackle twill on a matching white name plate. The Sand-Knit tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. This jersey displays heavy game use with some staining, some holes in the front, puckering of the numbers and overall toning. This jersey can be dated to the 1970 through 1973 seasons as the NFL mandated all teams put names on the backs of the jerseys starting in 1970 as part of the merger with the AFL and the three rows of washing instructions “IMPORTANT: USE MILD SOAP”, “WASH IN LUKEWARM WATER” and “DO NOT DRY IN AUTOMATIC DRYER”. This jersey comes with a LOA from MEARS (313810) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.5.
