Hall of Famer Lou Groza wore this white Cleveland Browns jersey during the 1964 season and has been photo matched to the December 12, 1964 game at the New York Giants played at Yankee Stadium. Groza, who spent the first 14 seasons in the league on the offensive line primarily at left tackle switched to a kicker for his remaining seven seasons. His straight-on kicking earned him the nickname “The Toe” and he became one of the top kickers in the league and he finished his career with a 97.6% conversion rate on extra points (641/657). During the December 12th game, Groza had a 39-yard field goal and was 7-for-7 on extra points as the Browns hammered the Giants 52-20. This Dureen jersey displays toning, giving it a cream-colored look has Groza’s number “76” sewn on in brown tackle twill on the front, back and shoulders. Brown and orange stripes adorn the sleeves, which are ¾-lenghth. The jersey has a built-in crotch strap that has the manufacturer’s tags – a “BLEPP-COOMBS SPORTING GOODS CLEVELAND, O.” tag and a “King-O’Shea” tag with the washing instructions and “52” handwritten in black ink. This jersey displays moderate use with some stains and marks and has been photo matched to the December 12th, 1964 game by Resolution Photomatching, who have provided an LOA (426540).
