Jim Rice, the Red Sox legend, used this bat during the last four summers of his Hall of Fame career. The first of which, 1986, being the year he hit .324 with 200 hits and 110 RBI, leading Boston back into their first post season since 1975. The 1986-1989 Louisville Slugger C243 model bat shows great game use. There are many ball marks with stitch impressions on the barrel along with ink transfers. Several bat rack paint streaks are present along with cleat impressions. The handle has a light coat of pine tar and the knob has Rice’s number “14” handwritten in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18643) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 8.5.
