There was no more dominant first baseman in the 21st century than Albert Pujols. The Cardinals superstar marked his 9th season in the Majors by winning his third NL MVP Award of the decade, leading the league in an incredible total of 8 offensive categories and batting .327 to lead the Cards into the post season. This bat was used by Pujols during that 3rd MVP summer, which, by itself makes it a noteworthy piece of baseball history–however there is a bit more to this bat’s story. After Pujols retired it from his rotation, he signed the barrel and gifted it to another St. Louis baseball legend, Ozzie Smith. The Hall of Famer’s Letter of Authenticity verifying the lineage of this bat accompanies the piece.

The Marucci AP5-M model bat shows excellent use. The barrel displays several prominent ball marks that include stitch impressions and white leather ball scuffs. The handle has a moderate coat of pine tar and Pujols’ number “5” and the bats specs are stamped into the knob end. The Cardinals star has signed the barrel in bold silver marker adding his number, “5” and “MVP 05 06.” A great bat that links Ozzie Smith, Hall of Fame Cardinals legend, with a future Hall of Famer and Cardinals star, Albert Pujols. This bat comes with a LOA from Ozzie Smith and a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18644) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10. There is also a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
