The only Yankees team from 1955-1964 to not win the AL pennant the 1959 squad finished third behind the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians, with a 79-75 record, despite fielding a lineup that featured seven All-Stars. This framed 16” x 20” b/w team photo is signed by all but one of those pictured including Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Enos Slaughter, Whitey Ford, and manager Casey Stengel. Other signatures include: Bobby Richardson, Bobby Shantz, Frank Crosetti, Jim Turner, Ralph Houk, Tony Kubek, Bill Skowron, Gil McDougald, Norm Siebern, Elston Howard, Art Ditmar, Ryne Duren, Don Larsen, Ralph Terry, Jim Coates, John Blanchard, Bob Turley, Andy Carey, Eli Grba, Duke Maas, Hank Bauer,Ken Hunt, Marv Throneberry, Gary Blaylock, Hector Lopez, trainer Gus Mauch and bat boys Pat Perry and Frank Prudenti. Third baseman Clete Boyer, who appeared in only 47 games that year and was 22 at the time is the only player pictured to not sign the photo. Thirty three signatures in all. The photo was taken in front of the Yankee Stadium seats between section 27 and section 25. Photo credit is written in white marker at the bottom left hand corner: “Foto By Requena.” Most of the players in the photo are beaming with smiles and looks either happy or proud to be there, or both. All of the signatures are signed clearly in the same black marker except for Turley’s which is in blue ball point pen. A full PSA/DNA letter # T06752 accompanies this item.
