Towards the end of his career Hall of Fame slugger Willie McCovey spent a few years with California teams from both leagues, beginning the 1976 season with the National League’s San Diego Padres before ending up on the other side of the San Francisco Bay with the Oakland A’s. McCovey swung this Hillerich & Bradsby bicentennial bat with a 1776-1976 engraved Liberty Bell/National Pastime logo, sometime during the 1976 season and signed it on the barrel in bold blue Sharpie. The bat shows moderate use with a handle crack and several ball and stitch impressions on the barrel surrounding the area where his name is branded into the bat in block letters. McCovey’s number 44 and Steve Ontiveros’ number 16 are both written on the knob in black marker; contains dual PSA/DNA authentication stickers for the bat (1B05830) and signature (#U69471) and full PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
