Coming on the heels of his 1999 National League Most Valuable Player performance, Hall of Famer Chipper Jones entered the 2000 season looking to once again star for his Atlanta Braves. Jones would have another terrific season as he belted 36 home runs, drove in 111 and maintained a solid .311 batting average. Jones would make his fourth All-Star Game appearance, and this one was special as it was at his home field – Turner Field in Atlanta.
Jones wore this Russell Athletic size 48 road gray jersey during the 2000 season. This jersey has the Braves’ classic red and navy piping down the center and around the neck and sleeves and features “Atlanta” scripted across the chest above the iconic Tomahawk paraph, both in red-on-navy tackle twill and accented gold stitching. Chipper’s number “10” is stitched on the back of the jersey in red and navy tackle twill, which is beneath “JONES” that is sewn on in navy tackle twill on a matching gray nameplate. The Russell Athletic manufacturer’s tag is found on the front left tail, with 2 additional smaller tags reading size “48” and “3-00”. The right sleeve bears the “2000 All-Star Game” patch and this jersey displays significant use with wash wear and fraying of the edges of the twill lettering. This jersey comes with a detailed LOA from Sports Investors Authentication (191109G10), who have photo matched this jersey to an August 23, 2000 image.
