Store model bats were produced by these companies to allow young children and sandlot players to use similar bats as their heroes. The bigger the star, the more desirable is the bat. This is a very nice conditioned example of a Lou Gehrig store model. This solid ash bat features the Hillerich & Bradsby 125 stamped label with the barrel containing a scripted Lou Gehrig facsimile signature. The barrel has several abrasion marks and some slight checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the back barrel and was clearly used as intended when produced. The knob has the size “32” deeply stamped with a hand carved design. There is also a carved “X” on the knob and the top barrel shows marks consistent with hitting the ground. A great Lou Gehrig store model.
