If Jackie Robinson’s contributions to baseball hadn’t retired #42, Mariano Rivera’s would have. The class of the New York Yankees pitcher, bullpen stalwart and all-time MLB saves leader has forged a Hall of Fame career that ends in 2013. On September 26, 2009, Rivera saved his 525th game. Commemorating the feat, he boldly signed in blue Sharpie, “Mariano Rivera #42” and inscribed “Save #525 vs. Boston/2009 World Series Champs” (grade 10). This side of this Schutt base holds a plate with “NY Yankees” and “Yankee Stadium/Inaugural Season 2009.” The base shows evidence of heavy game use, with sandy clay stains spread across its face. The base is embossed with “Original HOLLYWOOD BASE/ Jack Corbett/ Schutt Sports and the MLB logo. The base comes with an LOA from Steiner Collectibles (#97739)and is MLB Authenticated.
