This program from 1941 World Series played between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees features a patriot on the front cover balancing a player from each club evenly on an old time scale while he is standing over the Brooklyn Bridge. Inside the program is a brief but informative write up of the history of the Dodgers along with player head shots from both teams along with short player biographies. The last page of the program features a warmhearted tribute honoring Yankee legend Lou Gehrig, who passed away way too soon, in 1941. In Game 4 Dodgers pitcher Hugh Casey threw a suspected spitball which would have been the third strike, but catcher Mickey Owens dropped the pitch allowing the Yankees to rally and bringing them one win away from another series championship. This “Subway Series” would see the Yankees go on defeat the Dodgers 4 games to 1 to win the 1941 World Series. This program is un-scored and is in excellent overall condition with minor edge wear on the spine and corners.
