Former New York Rangers goalie Mike Richter will best be remembered for leading the Rangers to the 1994 Stanley Cup victory. It was the franchise’s first title since 1940 and the Blue Shirts last Stanley Cup title to-date. Richter spent his final season of his storied NHL career in 2002-03 where he appeared in 13 games with 2.94 GAA and picked up his 300th career win. Richter wore this blue Rangers road jersey during the preseason. This jersey was manufactured by KOHO and is made of an air-knit material. “RANGERS” is sewn on diagonally on the front in red with white shadow tackle twill. Richter’s number “35” is sewn on the back and on the sleeves in the same red and white shadow tackle twill. “RICHTER” is screen-printed in red and white on a matching blue air-knit nameplate. A blue patch with “KOHO” embroidered in white is sewn on above Richter’s name. The sleeves and waist have white/red/white stripes and the collar has a white-laced tie-in. This jersey still has the memorial ribbon patch worn on the left shoulder from the previous season in the wake of the September 11th attacks. This patch was added after the 2002 preseason. The inside back of this jersey has a white fight strap and the “NHL” logo is embroidered in black and silver on the back right tail. This jersey displays light game use and has been dated to the 2002 preseason by the experts at the MeiGray Group. Their patch with the ID number “A02737” is sewn on the inside front tail. Richter has signed his name in silver marker on the “3” on the back and inscribed “Game Used”. Richter’s signature comes with a STICKER ONLY from Steiner Sports, whose hologram is affixed to the “3”. Please note that there is no LOA from The MeiGray Group with this jersey, however, Goldin Auctions has received email confirmation from MeiGray that (A02737) is in their database.
