The Hall of Fame backstop Mike Piazza wore this black and blue New York Mets batting helmet during the 1998 MLB season. Piazza began the 1998 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers before being traded twice in May – first to the Marlins and eight days later to the Mets. Piazza played in 109 of his 151 games in 1998 with the Mets, hitting .348 with 23 homers, 76 RBI, and 33 doubles. Overall, the Pennsylvania native put up a Triple Crown slash line of .328/32/111 in 1998 and won the National League Silver Slugger award at catcher. Piazza made one of his 12 All-Star teams in 1998 as the Mets won 88 games and took second place in a competitive National League East Division.
This offered batting helmet is black, with a blue brim and the flap over Piazza’s left ear. Labels reading “PIAZZA” are affixed to the brim and back of the helmet, while a blue and orange Mets logo is applied to the front. An MLB logo decal is also applied to the back of the size 7 3/8 helmet. This helmet comes with a LOA from J.T. Sports.
