Coming off his 1996 Rookie of the Year award and World Series Championship, Derek Jeter was riding high entering the 1997 season. When 1997 was done, Jeter led the American League with 748 plate-appearances and notched 190 hits at a .291 clip with 116 runs scored. Jeter ultimately finished his career as one of the greatest Yankees to put on the pinstripes, which in the company of Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio and Mantle, is quite an accomplishment. The Captain retired as the Yankees’ all-time leader in hits with 3,465 and was elected to the Hall of Fame on his first ballot in 2020 and only one vote shy of being the second unanimous selection.

Offered here is a New York Yankees home jersey worn by Jeter during the 1997 season. This button-down pinstriped home jersey has the Yankees interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the left chest in navy tackle twill. Jeter’s number “2” is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy tackle twill. A Russell Athletic size “46” tag with an attached “100% Polyester Extra Body Length” flag is sewn on the front left tail, along with a “JETER-97” tag that is sewn beneath the Russell Athletic tag. The right sleeve has the “Jackie Robinson 1947 1997 50TH BREAKING BARRIERS” logo patch. This jersey displays This jersey displays light wear with the edges of the lettering slightly frayed and piled, with loose threads. There is slight staining on the front left tail and the jersey is original an unaltered. This comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication (200619F1) for the game use.
