In a strange, strike shortened season, the Yankees qualified for the playoffs by virtue of winning the American League East in the first half of the season, setting up a playoff matchup with the second half champion Milwaukee Brewers. The Yanks won the division series in five games and went on to sweep the A’s in the ALCS, before falling in six games to a familiar World Series foe, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bucky Dent, who will long be remembered for his monumental home run against the Boston Red Sox in the 1978 play-in game for the American League East Division title, made his second All-Star Game selection in 1981

Dent wore this home white with navy pinstriped Yankees jersey during the 1981 season. This jersey features the Yankees classic interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the upper left chest in navy tackle twill. The Wilson size 42 tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail and Dent’s number “20” is sewn on in navy tackle twill on the back. This button-down jersey has an off-white inner lining and on the inside collar the team tag reads “Dent 81 1”. This jersey displays moderate to heavy use and shows toning. The left sleeve has the Elston Howard memorial black armband. Dent has signed his name in blue marker below the interlocking “NY” on the front. This jersey comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication for the game use and a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
