Offered is a 1930 signature and inscription from former Major League Baseball first baseman and manager Charlie Grimm on an original black and white photograph portrait of the player casually on the sidelines in his Chicago Cubs uniform.  Grimm has inscribed “Best Wishes & Good Luck To. Kenneth Peters Charles Grimm 1930” in blue pen in the lower right corner of the 8 x 10-inch photo, which is printed on 11 x 14-inch white glossy photo stock. Grimm has his arms outstretched behind him on the fence in front of the grandstand with a dark baseball cap; the Cubs “C” can be seen on his left chest. Grimm played from July 1916 to September 1936 with first the Philadelphia Athletics, then the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cubs, and is best remembered for his time in Chicago. He later went on to manage the Cubs (1932-1938, 1944-1949), the Boston/Milwaukee Braves (1952-1956) and finished his career back at the helm of the Cubs for the 1960 season. This item comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication.
