Hall of Famer Hank Aaron hit 40 homers in 1973, ending the season one shy of tying Ruth’s career total of 714. 1974 began with the eyes of every baseball fan on Hank Aaron, as this would be the year the most hallowed record in sports would fall. He sent the first pitch he saw of the 1974 season into the stands for number 714 and then a few days later he set the new career record by hitting 715 off Al Downing. Every home run he hit from then on was the new record. This bat was used by Hank Aaron during the seasons he pursued and then eclipsed babe Ruth's record. Hank's Hillerich & Bradsby A99 model bat shows moderate game use. There are several ball marks and abrasions on the barrel and bat rack paint streaks are found on all sides. A light coat of pine tar is on the handle and both ends show abrasions from contact with the ground. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18618) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.5.
