The Nebraska Cornhuskers dominated all challengers during the 1983 regular season, finishing with a perfect 12-0 while averaging a whopping 50.3 points per game, most in the nation. On his way to winning the Heisman Trophy, running back Mike Rozier put up simply ridiculous statistics – 2,148 rushing yards (7.8 average yards per carry) and 29 touchdowns. Wide receiver Irving Fryar averaged 19.5 yards per catch to go along with eight receiving TDs. In the Orange Bowl, played January 2, 1984, Nebraska fell to the 10-1 Miami Hurricanes by a score of 31-30.
Offered here is a 1984 Nebraska Cornhuskers Orange Bowl watch presented to Paul Miles, featuring the “ORANGE BOWL 50 CLASSIC” logo on the face, as this year’s contest marked the 50th annual game. This Seiko Quartz piece also reads “NEBRASKA” and includes day and date display. The back of the face reads “WATER RESISTANT BASE METAL ST. STEEL BACK” while “SEIKO BASE METAL TOPS STAINLESS STEEL BACK” U.S.A.” appears on the clasp area. This watch weighs an approximate 55.5 grams. Scratching can be seen on the outer face.
