Tampa Bay Devil Rays outfielder Carl Crawford wore this Rays batting helmet as he recorded his first of 1,931 MLB hits on July 20th, 2002 on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays. Crawford, making his MLB debut, collected a two-RBI single in the sixth inning of Tampa’s 12-10 loss against Toronto reliever Brian Bowles. Crawford played in 63 games during his rookie season, hitting .259 with a pair of homers, 30 RBI, 6 triples, and 9 stolen bases.
This offered Rays batting helmet has the Tampa Bay logo applied to the front and the MLB logo applied to the back. The flap on this size 7 5/8 helmet is located over Crawford’s right ear. Crawford has signed this helmet twice in silver marker, inscribing “First MLB Hit” and “02” on the brim, while also inscribing “1 MLB Hit” and “02” closer to the crown of the helmet. This helmet comes with J.T. Sports (1047) for the game use and a COA from JSA for the signature.
