Offered here are five game used and/or signed bats from members of the Houston Astros during the 1970’s. The first bat is a Louisville Slugger R161 model bat used by John Edwards that has a labeling period of 1969 to 1972. This bat displays light game use and is un-cracked. Edwards’ number “7” is handwritten in black marker on the knob and top barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18927) for the game use. The next bat has a labeling period between 1971 and 1979 and was used by Cesar Cedeno. This Rawlings/Adirondack 184X model bat displays light game use and is un-cracked. Cedeno’s number “28” which appears to have been written over a “23”, is handwritten in black marker on the knob and top barrel. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18931) for the game use.
The next bat was used by Ken Boswell during the 1975 season. Boswell’s Louisville Slugger D114 model bat displays moderate to heavy game use and is un-cracked. Boswell’s number “17” is handwritten in faded black marker on the knob. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18930) for the game use. The next bat was used by Ron brand and has a labeling period of 1969-72. Brand’s Louisville Slugger D143 model bat displays moderate game use. Brand’s number “11” is handwritten in black marker on the knob and Brand has signed his name in black marker on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18929) for the game use and Brand’s signature comes with a JSA Auction Letter. The final bat in this lot was used by Jesus Alou and has a labeling period between 1970-72. This Louisville Slugger G105 model bat displays heavy game use and has a crack on the handle that has been repaired. There is checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact present on the back barrel with a 1 x 6-inch piece of wood missing. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18928) for the game use.
