Former Chicago Cubs infielder Starlin Castro’s rookie season was in 2010 when he played in 125 games and finished with a solid .300 average. Offered here are a game used bat from the 2010 season and a game issued bat from 2011. Castro used this Louisville Slugger S318 model bat during the 2010 season. This bat was taken out of play during the June 23, 2010 in Seattle when he broke this bat following a pitch from Mariner’s pitcher Cliff Lee in the top of the seventh inning. This bat displays heavy game use with a crack on the handle and piece of wood missing from the barrel. There are ball marks and blue ink transfers on the barrel. There is a coating of pine tar on the upper handle and a tape on the lower handle to enhance the grip. The bat’s manufacture date “5/18/2010” and length/weight “34/32” are stamped on the knob. The knob also has handwritten “S318”, “13” and “31.8”. This bat comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (BB932000) for the game use, authenticating that this bat was broken during the top of the 7th inning on June 23, 2010 in Seattle. There is also a LOA from Steiner Sports (153251). The second bat is the same model, Louisville Slugger S318, and was game issued to Castro in 2011. There is no game use on this bat and the bat’s manufacture date “07/29/11” and length/weight “34.0/31.0” is stamped on the knob.
