Byron Scott (21.7 points per game), Magic Johnson (19.6 PPG) and James Worthy (19.7 PPG) provided plenty of offense. Johnson also added 11.9 assists per game, while 40-year-old Kareem Abdul-Jabbar recorded 14.6 points per contest. After a first-round sweep of the San Antonio Spurs, the Lakers played three consecutive seven-game playoff series, the last being a victory over the Detroit Pistons in the NBA Finals.
