Arthur Miller’s unique series “A Baseball Card That Never Was” continues with this historic entrant featuring the Hall of Fame New York Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig, titled “A Baseball Card That Never Was: Lou Gehrig (1948 Leaf)”. This artwork is a mixed media on canvas; specifically, the mixed media is acrylic enamel house paint, oil pastels and colored pencils and sealed with varnish. This original artwork imagines what a Gehrig entry in the iconic 1948 Leaf set would look like. The legendary slugger is portrayed in his Yankees home whites and a navy Yankees cap while at the end of his sublime swing. The background is red, and the lower portion of the artwork features “LOU GEHRIG” in black over yellow. Miller has signed the artwork twice, once in the upper-right corner and once on the back. Written on the back is “A Baseball Card That Never Was: Lou Gehrig (1948 Leaf)” and “2020”. This thrilling original artwork measures 25 x 30 inches and is a sumptuous display piece for any fan of America’s game.
