Longtime shortstop Dave Concepcion played his entire career with the Cincinnati Reds and was part of the great Big Red Machine dynasty of the mid-1970’s. Concepcion was a nine-time all-star and was the recipient of five Gold Glove Awards and two Silver Slugger Awards. Concepcion used this Louisville Slugger K44 model bat during the 1980-83 seasons, where he combined to hit .270. Concepcion’s bat displays outstanding game use with a crack on the upper handle/lower barrel. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the barrel. There is also evidence of tape on the barrel indicating batting practice use as well, most likely after the bat was used in games and then retired for BP use. A red square sticker with “13” in raised white is affixed to the knob. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18878) for the game use, along with a COA from the Cincinnati Reds, stating this bat was used during the 1981 season. There is a COA from JSA for the signature.
