The mid-1980's were the "sweet spot" of Cal Ripken, Jr's career. Already established as a Big-League star, Ripken proceeded to display the unstoppable work ethic that defined his career. It was during this period that Ripken's streak of consecutive games played was first noted and it was a stretch in which he was coming off of the 1982 American League Rookie of the Year and 1983 AL MVP. Dating the 1986 season, Cal's two-toned Louisville Slugger P72 model bat displays heavy game use and is un-cracked. The barrel shows many ball marks and stitch impressions along with white leather ball scuffs. There are numbers cleat imprints and bat rack scuffs throughout. Ripken's famous number "8" has been handwritten on the knob end in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.
