The premier quarterback of his generation despite never winning a Super Bowl, Dan Marino wore this Nike Miami Dolphins home jersey during the August 28th, 1999 pre-season game against the Detroit Lions. In his penultimate pre-season game before the regular season, Marino went 19-29 for 195 yards and touchdown.
This mesh jersey was manufactured by Starter Athletic and is teal with Marino’s number “13” sewn on in white, orange and navy tackle twill on the front, back and shoulders. The jersey is a size 54 and has the NFL shield patch sewn at the base of the V-neck and “Dolphins” embroidered in white on the upper chest. The inside back collar has the team patch that reads “98-54” and the sleeves have orange, white and navy stripes screen-printed on the sleeve ends. “MARINO” is sewn on in white and orange tackle twill on a matching teal nameplate on the back of the jersey and the Dolphins logo patch is sewn on each sleeve. The jersey displays moderate game use with some light staining on the numbers and this comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication (190315F1), who have photo matched this jersey to the August 28th, 1999 pre-season game and a COA from Fanatics (AA0017918) signed by Dan Marino, authenticating that Marino wore this jersey during the August 28th preseason game.
