Offered is a 1927 Benny Bengough signed New York Yankees payroll check, which also features the signatures of Yankees business manager Ed Barrow and owner Jacob Ruppert. Bernard Oliver “Benny” Bengough played the majority of his Major League Baseball career as a catcher for the Yankees during the 1920s when the team garnered the nickname of Murderers’ Row due to their potent batting lineup. He has signed the check “B. O. Bengough” in black pen on the endorsement line on the back of the white paper September 15, 1927 check, which is in the amount of $707.52. The front of the check features black type and red and white stamped text. Barrow has signed his name at the front left margin of the check in black pen, while Ruppert has signed his name in black pen in the front lower right corner. This item has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (84138216) and the signatures are graded Authentic.
