Since hitting a walk-off home run in his very first game in 2003, Miguel Cabrera has proven to be one of the most exciting players in the game. The 20 year-old sparked the Marlins to the World Championship and launched a career that would see him appear in eight All-Star games, earn two AL batting titles, an MVP Award and the coveted Triple Crown. This rookie-era Rawlings black-and-tan leather Dual-Post H-style glove, model PRO-1000 6KB (size – "12.25”), is embroidered along the thumb with “Miguel Cabrera” in gold thread. Evidence of heavy game use includes even wear throughout, with noticeable wear on the welting on the back of the fingers, typical of a third baseman. The palm and pocket bear brown residue, reminiscent of tobacco juice and pine tar. Japanese leather is bound with black laces. The dual post H-web sports tan leather with black laces. Fingers are lined with gray welting. The red Rawlings label is stitched to the wrist strap and the circle “R” logo is recessed on the thumb knuckle. Numerous photo matches are included with this lot, including an 8” x 10” color photo signed “Miguel Cabrera 20” in vivid blue Sharpie (grade 10), and 6 Upper Deck baseball cards of various editions showing Cabrera in his first 2 major league seasons as a Florida Marlin wearing this very glove. An LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00068) accompanies this item.
