Hall of Fame pitcher Waite Hoyt enjoyed his greatest success with the New York Yankees, pitching for the team between 1921 and 1930. The Brooklyn native earned 157 of his 237 career victories in the Bronx and finished his career with an ERA of 3.59. Hoyt was especially effective in the postseason, collecting six wins and maintaining a 1.83 ERA in 12 World Series games. A three-time World Series champion with the Yankees, Hoyt was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969 via the Veteran’s Committee. This offered New York Yankees payroll check has been signed by Hoyt on the bottom in black pen. The back of this check lists “Salary to August 31st” and the check amount is $905.33. The check was dated to “August 30th” 1924 and has “The American League Base Ball Club of New York, Inc.” printed on the top. The check number is 7598 and there are holes from when the check cleared and has also been signed by Yankees’ owner Jacob Ruppert. This check has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (65110641).
