Pujols exploded into the National League in the spring of 2001 as one of the most anticipated rookies in the history of the game. His .329 average and 37 homers proved he was ready for the big show and the baseball world was left in awe of the 21 year-olds commanding presence on the diamond. By the time the books were closed on his first season, Pujols had been named to his first All-Star team and was unanimously voted the National League Rookie of the Year. The SAM SG1 shows excellent game use. Originally broken in two pieces, the bat has been repaired. The bat's gloss black finish shows off the many ball and stitch impressions grouped on the barrel above Pujols' endorsement. Cleat marks can be seen on the barrel and the factory specs are written in thin black pen in the cupped end, over which Pujols' number "5" is hand-written in thick black marker. The knob end has the "MADE IN CANADA" sticker upon which "5" is hand-written in black marker. PSA/DNA sticker number 1B02078 is affixed as well. A rare piece from the first year of what will certainly be a Hall of Fame career. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
