As Pete Rose ticked off the hits leading up to his 4,000th career hit, Mizuno created a special bat for his use bearing the model number "PR 4000" to inspire him as he closed in on that milestone. Rose used these Mizuno's exclusively until April 13th, 1984 when he surpassed that exclusive mark. Mizuno then created a new model as Pete set his sights on Ty Cobb's record - the "PR 4191".

As you'd expect from a club used by The Hit King, this bat shows solid game use with ideal Rose characteristics. As noted by PSA- the sanding on the left and right barrel, along with the tape to the upper handle are clear Rose game used bat identifiers. There are also many ball marks with stitch impression on its barrel along with cleat imprints and black ink transfers. The handle has been taped in typical Rose fashion, and Rose has signed the barrel in bold marker just below the special "PR 4000" model number on the barrel. Rose started the 1984 season in Montreal and returned to Cincinnati in August as a player/manager. Rose inscribed this bat to teammate Dave Parker with the inscription reading “To Dave, Best Wishes To A Great Hitter + Good Friend”. A great gamer used by Rose as he closed in on the 4,000-hit milestone. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (C86288) and has been graded a perfect GU 10, a LOA from MEARS (316899), who have graded this bat a perfect A10 and a LOA from Dave Parker. Additionally, there is a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature and inscription.
