The 1992 Cleveland Indians featured young stars like Carlos Baerga, Albert Belle and Kenny Lofton that would soon turn the franchise into perennial contenders in the mid-to-late 1990s. One of those stars, Kenny Lofton recorded his first career home run during the May 7, 1992 game against the Texas Rangers at Arlington Stadium.
Offered here are the two official scorecards from that May 7, 1992 game. The first card is the blue visitor’s card for the Indians that reads “1992 OFFICIAL BATTING ORDER (VISITING CLUB) on the top and the “5/7/92” handwritten date in blue pen. The “ORIGINAL” column has the Indians lineup printed in blue pen “Cole Lewis Baerga Belle Whiten Sorrento Jacoby Ortiz Lofton” with “Cook” as the pitcher. The “ALSO ELIGIBLE” column has “Perezchica Fermin Howard Worthington Levis” as the bench and “Nagy Otto Armstrong Nichols Christopher Plunk Wickander Lilliquiest Olin” as the pitchers. The card has been signed by manager Mike Hargrove.
The Rangers’ lineup card is on white paper and has “1992 OFFICIAL BATTING ORDER TEXAS” with the “5/7/92” date handwritten in blue pen. The lineup was also written in blue pen with “ORIGINAL” column listed as “DOWNING PALMEIRO GONZALEZ SIERRA FARISS PALMER THON RODRIGUEZ NEWMAN” with “PAVLIK as the pitcher. The “ALSO ELIGIBLE” column has “PETRALLI HUSON REIMER CANGELOSI DAUGHERTY” as the bench with “RUSSELL ROBINSON MATHEWS CAMPBELL ROGERS BANNISTER BROWN RYAN GUZMAN WITT” as pitchers. There were several changes made in this lineup card and it has been signed by manager Bobby Valentine. Each card comes with an individual COA from JSA.
