For 19 seasons in Yankees pinstripes, Mariano Rivera has been saving Yankees’ victories as automatically as the sun’s daily rising. As he completes his final season and adds to his record 649 saves, his career and character will be honored.
This item is a locker room nameplate from the April 7, 2007 game between the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees, won by the Bronx Bombers, 10 – 7. The team scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Rivera his first win of the 2007 season. Rivera entered in the top of the ninth and gave up no runs on a hit while striking out one.
This nameplate is Yankee blue with white “Rivera,” “42,” and Yankee’s logo. Rivera has signed atop his appliquéd name, “Mariano Rivera 2007” in silver Sharpie. Along the nameplate’s lower edge is inscribed “Enter Sandman last to wear #42”. A COA from both Steiner Collectibles (#12439) and MLB (#498076) accompany this item.
