After spending the first 20 seasons of his career in the American League with the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees, Roger Clemens signed with his hometown Houston Astros for the 2004 season. After notching six Cy Young Awards (3 with Boston, 2 with Toronto & 1 with New York), the Katy, Texas native baffled National League hitting, going 18-4 with a 2.98 ERA and 218 strikeouts in 214.1 innings pitched.

Clemens would have two more solid seasons in Houston, all in his early 40’s – posting ERA’s of 1.87 and 2.30 before rejoining the Yankees in 2007 to close out his career. Offered here is Clemens’ Louisville Slugger C331 model bat that has been dated to the 2004-07 seasons. This bat displays heavy game use and is un-cracked. There are many ball marks, stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs present on the barrel. The handle has a light coating of pine tar and “Clemens” is handwritten in black marker on the knob. Also handwritten is “K1”, which appears on the “M9” silver logo on the lower barrel.

The bat does not have a name stamp and can be attributed to Clemens as this bat comes with a LOA from Clemens’ former trainer Brian McNamee, who states in his LOA that this bat was given to him by Clemens and was in his personal collection. Based on this, Clemens acquired this bat during his tenure with the Astros as it is common for pitchers to use other people’s bats as well as team ordered bats. Clemens has signed this stick in bright silver marker on the barrel. This comes with the aforementioned LOA from Roger Clemens’ former trainer Brian McNamee, along with a LOA from PSA/DNA (I02305) for the game use. Additionally, there is a STICKER ONLY from TriStar (7047858) for Clemens’ signature.
