At the age of 40, Lou Brock spent 1979 putting the icing on his Hall of Fame career – by becoming a member of the exclusive 3,000 Career Hit Club. Brock remained a dangerous hitter right up until the day he retired, posting a .304 average that last year. Offered here is a game used baseball from the 1979 season in which Lou Brock joined the exclusive 3,000 Hit Club. This ball is an Official National League Charles S. Feeney stamped ball that displays moderate game use. The ball shows toning and rubbed dirt marks and has been signed by the Hall of Famer in bold black pen on the side panel. Brock inscribed around his signature “The year 3000” and “St Louis Cardinals 1979”. Also handwritten in black pen along the red stitching below the stamped sweet spot reads “8-13-79 LB 3000” indicating that this ball was likely used during Brock’s 3,000th hit game. This ball comes with a LOA from MEARS for the game use and a LOA from JSA for the signature.
