The 1993 Pittsburgh Pirates entered a transition period as they lost MVP Barry Bonds to the San Francisco Giants after also losing slugger Bobby Bonilla to the New York Mets following the 1991 season. Despite these losses, the Pirates still finished with 75 wins and were led by pitcher Steve Cooke, who finished the season with a 10-10 record and 3.89 ERA. One of Cooke’s better performances came during the July 11th start when he held the Cincinnati Reds to two runs over seven innings, allowing seven hits and striking out two as the Pirates won 3-2 on a walk-off walk.

Cooke wore this Pirates throwback jersey during his July 11th start. This button-down jersey was made by Mitchell & Ness and modeled after the 1925 Pirates’ jerseys. There is red/white/red piping that runs along both sides of the buttons and around the collar. The same red/white/red piping as also on the collar end and sleeve ends with the Pirates “P” in blue felt in Tuscan font on the sleeves. A circle patch in yellow in black reads “NATIONAL LEAGUE GOLDEN JUBILEE 1876-1925” and is sewn on the upper left chest. The Cooperstown Collection and 1925 tags are sewn on the bottom front left tail, while the Mitchell & Ness tag and a “SIZE XL” flag is sewn on the inside back collar. The back of the jersey has Cooke’s number “26” sewn on in blue felt. This jersey displays light game use and Cooke has signed his name in black marker below the “GOLDEN JUBILEE” patch on the front. This jersey comes with a LOA from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
