Michael Jordan & Summer Premium Auction Closing July 18 10PM Eastern
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 7/18/2020
Fresh off his Rookie of the Year and World Series winning campaign, Derek Jeter decided it was time for a vehicle upgrade in the Summer of 1997 during his sophomore season. The available 1997 black Mercury Mountaineer was traded in by Derek Jeter for an upgrade after only several months of use and has been noted on the original sale documentation with the Stock No. “Jeter” which accompanies the vehicle. The vehicle is accompanied by a photograph of Jeter in plain clothes, clearly dating to Mid-1990s, standing beside it. On the interior Jeter signed his name largely in silver paint pen in the center console and it is period correct for his signature during the 1997 season as well.
The vehicle mileage at the time of the listing is 112,250 and there is some work needed to be done. It has received a service inspection prior to going on the auction block and the brakes do need complete replacement. There are some visual imperfections on the car such as dents and scratches as well as some staining on the carpeting on the interior. The vehicle itself is a time capsule into the early career of Yankees Hall of Famer and All-time great Derek Jeter. The signature comes with authentication from Beckett Authentication Services. The transfer of title and vehicle logistics will need to be worked out directly with our consigner post auction.
