Presented is what we believe is the finest full uniform of Michael Jordan ever to hit the market. His statistics and accolades are too numerous to mention – the name Michael Jordan quite simply resides among the most elite of sports legends. The trail MJ left in his wake seems almost impossible to comprehend - besides being a 5-time NBA MVP, 6-time NBA Finals MVP and champion, Jordan completely revolutionize the way pro basketball was played. The excitement he brought to the game propelled the NBA onto the same level of popularity as MLB and the NFL. Now, a generation later with the recent release of “The Last Dance” series, Jordan is now being seen like never before, especially to younger fans who have only seen highlights and stories about how dominant Jordan was. Jordan items continue to set records, especially in memorabilia, where his 1986-87 Fleer #57 rookie card (Lot  209 of this auction) continues to set the highwater mark for Jordan rookie cards and the 2003-04 Exquisite Collection All-NBA Access Press Patches #JJ James/Jordan 1 of 1 sold for a record $900,000 price.

This may be one of the best Jordan game used set ever offered as it is the only 1996-97 Jordan game used and photo matched uniform to be offered for public sale and is the only Jordan 1996-97 black uniform to be offered for public sale with a Bulls’ letter. Thanks to Jordan, the Chicago Bulls won their second consecutive NBA Title in 1997, their fifth title in seven years. Jordan played all 82 regular season games where he averaged 29.6 points per game. The black mesh jersey has red pinstripes and red, white and black ribbing around the neck and arm openings and has been photo matched to the April 13, 1997 game by Resolution Photomatching. "BULLS" arches across the chest with Jordan's number "23" in red, white and black tackle twill. The NBA logo patch is sewn on the left shoulder. Champion size "46" label is sewn in the lower left front tail with a Chicago Bulls "BODY LENGTH 0" label sewn adjacent. The back has "JORDAN" across the shoulders with Jordan's number "23" in red, white and black tackle twill. The jersey shows light to moderate game use with no tearing or stains. There are a few loose threads on the lettering, but the stitching remains tight.

The shorts are a black mesh with red pinstripes and have been photo matched to 12 games (11/15/96, 12/3/96, 12/13/96, 12/21/96, 1/10/97, 1/30/97, 2/5/97, 2/21/97, 3/9/97, 3/27/97, 4/9/97 & 4/13/97) by Resolution Photomatching. Included was a 40 point game on 12/3/96. Overall Jordan recorded 358 points,  61 rebounds and 47 assists in the shorts.  A bull mascot patch is sewn on both lower thigh and a gold NBA logo patch is sewn on the left leg. The red, white and black ribbed waist band has a size "38" Champion label with Jordan's number "23" handwritten in black marker on it. A Chicago Bulls label is sewn beside it with "RISE +2 INSEAM +3". A white tag with "1996-1997" is sewn inside the shorts. Per the letter from the Bulls, Jordan wore the mislabeled shorts during the 1996-97 season and this is a MATCHED UNIFORM. White drawstring is present. A great complete uniform from Jordan's prime and from one of his six championship seasons. This uniform comes with a letter of authenticity from the Chicago Bulls and has been photo matched to the April 13, 1997 game by Resolution Photomatching, where the Bulls lost on the road to the Detroit Pistons 108-91 and Jordan scored 18 points. Individual LOAs from Resolution Photomatching will accompany these items. Resolution’s LOA (426605) photo matches the jersey to the April 13, 1997 while LOA (426738) photo matches the shorts the above-referenced 12 games of the 1996-97 season.
