Michael Jordan & Summer Premium Auction Closing July 18 10PM Eastern
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 7/18/2020
If not for the dominance of a young Michael Jordan, the first-round playoff series between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls in 1986 would have been nothing more than a footnote in the Celtics’ run to their 16th NBA title. However, Jordan’s historic 63-point performance in Game 2 put a scare into Boston and served notice that Jordan was ready to take the torch. Offered here is an 8 x 10-inch color photograph of Jordan scoring two of his record-setting 63 points as this photo shows him reaching for the rim evading the attempted block by fellow Hall of Famer Kevin McHale. Jordan has signed his name in black marker over his image. There is a smaller picture on the left side that shows Jordan going up against Hall of Famer Larry Bird with the caption “63 POINT PLAYOFF PERFORMANCE April 20, 1986 Bulls 131, Celtics 135 Against The Likes Of Bird, McHale & Parish, MJ Scored 63 Points In A Losing Effort Against The Celtics.” This piece is a limited-editioin 5822/23,000 as marked in the lower righthand corner. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication (A21091).
