Hall of Famer Derek Jeter spent the 1993 season as a member of the Single A Greensboro Hornets of the South Atlantic League. This was Jeter’s second year, but his first full season as a pro, after being drafted in the first round out of Kalamazoo Central High School in 1992. Jeter began to show why he was selected in the first round as he finished the 1993 season with a .295 average, 5 home runs and 71 RBI in 128 games. Jeter led the Hornets to the North Division title with an 85-56 record, while advancing to the SAL Finals before falling to the Savanah Cardinals 3-2 in the Championship Series.
Offered here is a 1993 “Grand Stand” magazine, which was the official magazine of the Greensboro Hornets that has been signed by Hall of Famer Derek Jeter. Not only is this one of the earliest pro-career signatures of Jeter, it may be the finest as it was graded a GEM MINT 10 by Beckett Authentication. Jeter’s signature appears on page 43 as he signed his name in bold black marker on his profile image. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication, who have graded Jeter’s signature a GEM MINT 10.
