David Wright earned the nickname “Captain America,” for his performance with Team USA in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, and was also named the fourth team captain in New York Mets history at the start of the 2013 season. Wright signed this game used (2005-2006) X Bat 2427 with a lengthy inscription reading: “Joe – I’ll see you at the World Series parade…You’re a true inspiration!” between the label and branding on the barrel of this natural finish bat. A black #5 sticker is affixed to the knob and black and red X Bat sticker serves as the label. The bat shows moderate use with some dark stitch marks and green ink transfers evident from batting practice balls. Wright’s number 5 is written in black marker inside the barrel cup and the number 31 indicating the bat’s weight is also written in silver Sharpie. A thick smudge of black pine tar remains on the handle; Contains dual PSA/DNA authentication stickers for the bat (#1B05790) and signature (#U69478) and full PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
