One of the more unheralded players of his era, Vada Pinson was a five-tool player before the term came into common use; he could hit for average and with power, while being able to run, throw and field with above average ability. Pinson had his best seasons with the Cincinnati Reds from 1959-1963, leading the National League twice in doubles, twice in hits and twice in triples, posting a .343 average in 1961. Pinson swung this 36” Hillerich & Bradsby C235 model club some time during the period between 1969 and 1972. The bat shows plenty of good use with ball marks, stitch impressions and a handle crack that has been repaired with green and red bat rack marks around the barrel. Pinson’s model number 235 is stamped into the knob with his number 28 hand written in black marker on the knob and end of the barrel. Pinson’s signature with a “Best of Everything” inscription is written on the barrel in bold black Sharpie near the engraving of his name in block letters; Contains dual PSA/DNA authentication stickers for the bat (1B05766) and signature (#U69475) and full PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
